AMOCA Dialogues: Black Voices from the Museum Collection
Group exhibitionAMOCA, Marble Hall, Temple of Peace, Cardiff, WalesJune 4–14, 2025
AMOCA’s inaugural exhibition, presented at Marble Hall in Cardiff’s Temple of Peace, brought together contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora drawn from the museum’s collection.
Spencer Lewis’s Untitled (2019), a painting on jute, was included in this first public presentation by the Artistic Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition took place in a temporary venue ahead of the museum’s planned permanent home in Cardiff.
Across painting, sculpture and other media, the exhibition considered identity, history, resistance and belonging. The installation placed works on freestanding dark panels within the hall’s marble interior.
